A lot of people will do charity work or donate in their lifetime; we all have causes which are close to our hearts.
If you wish, share with us which causes matter most to you.
Personally, I have a weakness for causes that involve children, as well as animals. I have volunteered some counceling work with children and teenagers, and I contribute in whatever small way I can to a a few charities and children's hospitals. I also help out MIRA, a foundation which trains dogs for the blind.
In addition to this, I have also volunteered with an organization that helps war veterans - which could be anything from serving as a chauffeur one day, or helping them out fill some paperwork on another day. I really enjoyed this, as many veterans have amazing stories to tell, and it is sad to see so many grow old in near isolation. This one matters to me a fair deal because I tend to think that we do not care for our veterans enough.
Finally, one of my bands used to hold an annual concert to get donations for a battered women's shelter - so a legal councel would be provided to get information as to what their rights are, how to obtain restraining orders, for example, or simply knowing which legal course of action is available to them. I have also done some volunteer work with the elderly and participated in a few inter-generational programs.
