The media has developed a lot in the last couple of decades, from the appearance of 24/7 Cable News Channels to the abundance of blogs, opinion pages, and source on the internet, to the announced death of the print media.
It seems increasingly difficult to find reliable, objective news sources these days. I literally cannot tolerate more than small incremements of much of the ongoing circus provided by 'News Channels' and the internet is home to so much misinformation and bias that it makes one's head spin. I'm not too impressed by newspapers, either.
So where do you get your news?
As for me, I do enjoy reading Mother Jones. It has a distinct progressive edge, though it can dispute the merit of both the so-called liberal and conservative ideas, and it's articles are rather lengthy and usually well documented. It dies use emotive language on occasion, which I do not much care for, but otherwise, I think it is a fine publication.
I also read Der Spiegel when I can. Now, I think this one is about as thorough as it gets. Very detailed articles, well documented and researched - May very well be the best news publication out there.
Finally, there is the French Le Nouvel Observateur. This one leans towards the intellectual realm, and has both news and in depth analysis, usually provided by individuals on the opposite side of the usual political spectrum, who mainly discuss what they factually agree on in terms of what's wrong, what needs to be changed, and how; though on occasion it also publishes heated debates.
Otherwise, I'd read my own blog if I had one.
